Program description: Travel through time and across the globe in this lecture/presentation, learning about different bookbinding styles throughout history. Starting in North Africa and ending in Europe, this presentation focuses on the structure and function of each style, explaining the pros and cons of each in terms of aesthetic, use, and longevity. Handmade historical replicas and modern interpretations of each bookbinding style will be available for handling by the audience, as well as some historical materials like papyrus and vellum.
Space/special requirements: A projector or another type of presentation equipment, WiFi, and a table for display items.
Travel restrictions: First 15 miles of travel from Amityville are free- each additional mile, $1 is charged each way (total $2 per extra mile)
