Program description: Hammer films of England produced some of the most exciting and colorful horror films ever made. They also created a star factory that included the likes of Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings) and Peter Cushing (Star Wars). Known for their lavish production values, splashes of gruesome viscera, and strong sense of sensuality, they redefined the genre in a way that still leaves it's mark on the current horror and sci-fi cinema of today. Join me for this introspective journey through the career of Hammer film studios, all the way through their humble poverty row productions of the 1940's through their shot to international recognition as the masters of horror and science fiction in the 1960's. Comes complete with a vintage memorabilia presentation plus a 16mm showing of a digest version of The Curse of Frankenstein (1957). A must when booking for the Halloween season of September/October.
