Program name: Songs of Disaster: Devised & Collaborative Theater Master Class

Program description: (Advanced Students/Teachers) Using the lyrics of early 20th Century songs of angst and disaster as jumping off points, the workshop group will take a journey into devised & collaborative theater. Ensemble building will be explored through Boal and Viewpoints exercises. Working in small groups, the attendees will be actors, playwrights and directors to create scenes from the lyric sheets the group chooses. Students must have a strong improvisation background and willingness to create as part of a group. Each group will present their work at the end of the session. NOTE: This workshop is designed to be done in a two to three hour period of time or short residency. *This can also be altered to fit elementary schools through Folk and Traditional Tales, as well as other subjects in a process drama format.
