Program length: 60-75 min.

Program description: RiverJack’s( comprises one-third of The Zucchini Brothers ) highly engaging style motivates students to participate actively in the creative process. Through dynamic performance, demonstration, and audience participation, RiverJack provides an introduction to the processes of looping, songwriting, and recording, and leaves participants with a finished product that they are proud to call their own. RiverJack uses “loop” (live recording) technology to achieve a full band sound by layering percussion, bass, acoustic guitars, harmonica, trumpet and vocals. During a 60- to 75-minute session, participants will explore the craft of songwriting by writing and recording a song that is uniquely their own, based on a theme or curriculum-related topic. They will work cooperatively to form a musical composition by: brainstorming ideas, writing lyrics, composing a melody, and gaining personal experience with the creative process. The song is then rehearsed and recorded, and the library will receive a CD/mp3 containing the participants’ song.
