Program description: The traditional Japanese Taiko Drums and the Martial Art of Kendo, provide a glimpse into the unique SAMURAI SPIRIT, which has pervaded Japanese culture for hundreds of years and still influences the Japanese today as seen in the popularity of Samurai based Anime & Manga. Workshops with the Taiko drums & Kendo introduce the Teens to these exciting aspects of Japanese culture and get them involved in physical activities which they might not normally be involved in. This program is presented by the Ryu Shu Kan and sponsored by the Japan Center at Stony Brook University's Community Outreach programs.
