| Program description: | In a colorful slide presentation, the fascinating process of illustrating a picture book evolves before your eyes! Students come away from this program with a deeper understanding of the book-making process as well as a glimpse into the tiny world of microorganisms. A microscope and special camera are used to view the inhabitants of pond water! Based on her latest book, Amoeba Hop, Mrs. Feeney describes the many steps of book illustration from initial pencil sketch to final oil paintings. Thumbnail sketches, a book dummy and the use of a computer in the design of the pages are all part of the interesting procedure. |
