| Program description: | ORPHAN TRAIN RIDERS----I am the author of 2 books on the subject. The largest mass relocation of children in America took place during the orphan train era 1854-1929. Over 400,000 children were transported by rail out of NYC and major cities. They were America's first foster children. I do a lecture/video presentation. Life in the 19th Century could be brutal. When adults fell victim to alcoholism, job loss, or drugs, the children were the first to suffer. |
