Program Information

Program name: CLASSIC MUSICAL SHORTS OF THE 1930's & 40's
Program category: History
Media- Film
Media- Other
Program length: 60 minutes each
Audience level: All ages
Audience size: Open
Program description: Here’s a great program for both seniors & young. During the 1930's & 40's in many bars and restaurants you could put a dime in a machine and view a “soundie” of Glenn Miller’s orchestra playing their latest record. Well, now you can relive those fantastic cinematic moments as Keith Crocker presents a selection of vintage short musical numbers featuring the biggest acts of the day. Each program is one hour long and contains 16mm short subjects plus a fantastic seminar on the history of these “pre-MTV” musical numbers. Program 1: South of the Border Songs + Sentimental Journey - Featuring Rita Rio, Ellen Connor, The Velasco’s, Glen Gray’s Orchestra, Sonny Dunham, and the Dinning Sisters. Program 2: Musical Capers + Old Time Tunes - Featuring Al Trace, Chris Cross, Milt Britton, Daring Young Man, The Four Lady Killers and Snooky Lanson. Program 3: Cuban Rhythm + Sports Parade - Two very interesting theatrically shown short subjects. Cuban Rhythm explores exotic dances and actually teaches how to do them, while Sports Parade shows us a day in the life of Rodeo Stars, complete with cowboys roughing it up rodeo style.
Space/special requirements: A screen to show the film on. If venue does not have screen, I can provide one. I will of course provide the 16mm projector.
