Program description: Histo-Drama-My Spirit Sings draws from a series of'Women Who Could've Sung the Blues but Didn't.' I portray in costume, Harriet Tubman-Prose and songs on the Underground Rail Road and Codes of the Quilt, Sojourner Truth-From Slavery to Rebirth and Freedom, Emmett Till's Mother-A mother's Cry for Justice, Margru-Child of the Amistad (she tells of her fight for survival), Bessie Coleman-Aviatrix pioneer (juvenile-theatre and reading for grade1-4), Zora Neale Hurston-Readings-Their Eyes Were Watching God as well as her folk tale collection, Callie House-Ex. Slave Reparations and Poetry readings by Maya Angelou, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Gwendolyn Brooks, Langston Hughes, Philiss Wheatly, Sonia Sanchez and others.
