It begins with a demonstration of how a picture book is made, from typed manuscript to thumbnail sketches, the dummy book, revisions, final sketches, final art and finally arriving at a printed and bound book. Workshop attendees will create their own stories and illustrate them using props and toys (provided in the workshop) and a lot of imagination. They will be creating the thumbnail sketches for their own picture book! To create illustrations for a book, artists need to develop drawing skills and craftsmanship. They use pencils, paint, pastels, paper and canvas and other media. But they also use memory, imagination, observation skills to help come up with the ideas for the pictures and stories.
