Program Information

Program name: Mastodon; American Incognitum!
Program category: History
Nature- Animals
Program length: 60 minutes
Audience level: Juvenile
Audience size: 20-25 children
Program description: Presenter in 18th Century dress shares details of the discovery of a Mastodon skeleton in Orange County, NY. A tri-fold display board, 'fossil' tusk, model molars, and small dinosaur skeletons are displayed. Program includes all materials for a miniature archeological dig after the lecture. Were huge bones found along the banks of the Hudson from a giant or mythical monster? It was a national mystery before dinosaurs were known! Children dig and ID what they unearth! Choice of #1 dinosaur egg OR #2 skeleton figure. Use provided charts and books from your display to help with identification. If desired, option #3 is to 'flesh out' dinosaur skeletons using clay.
Space/special requirements: Small table for displays, table space for two dig trays. Enough floor space or chairs for the children to research creatures. (Display opportunity for dinosaur non-fiction).
Travel restrictions: Plus $25. travel fee beyond 30-mile radius of Walden. If more than 50 miles one-way, add extra $25. travel plus NYS Thruway tolls.

Notes about the fee: Base Fee $185.00. I offer a 5% discount for series bookings within a 30-day time period, or added sessions on the same date.
Other notes: Program works well as a Family Event. Parents enjoy helping children open eggs, identify and research the dinosaur within.
