| Program description: | This family friendly workshop allows up to twenty-five participants to learn about kite history, how to fly a kite, and kite safety. They decorate a pre-cut 20X20 inch Diamond shaped plastic kite sail with permanent markers. Then with help install a frame made of two 1/8 inch wooden dowels and a square rubber band, using address labels. Next Add a colorful tail and they have a kite that will fly very well indeed. Flying line is supplied. Recommended for ages six up. Enough tables are needed to allow the kite makers to spread their kite sails. Chairs are needed as well. Helpers are needed for the younger children. Helpers may be library personnel or parents. |
| Space/special requirements: | Room/space for up to twenty-five participants. Tables and chairs, and a chalkboard if one is available. Because of the permanent markers used you may want to cover tables. |

| Other notes: | Helpers/pages are needed to do the kite to frame assembly for younger children. Parents are welcome to stay and help. This is especially true if the group size is more than 15. The presenter will not be able to assist all the children quickly enough. Smaller groups will finish faster.If space permits, several types of kites will be displayed during the workshop. A indoor flying demonstration of one of the workshop kites will be done by the presenter. |
